The Model 11K Vacuum Unit is an vehicle mounted accessory instrument attached with a detachable umbilical cord to the 14K Base Unit. An internal vacuum pump attached with a hose to air intakes mounted in front of the vehicle front bumper draws a sample of ambient air to the methane sensor.

The combination of the 14K and the 11K units are required to conduct a pipeline leak survey from a vehicle.
